The Future

Improve my standings with the MRO and make a mark within the MRO superstock series. Practice and more practice is now needed on a bike the likes of which I have never rode.

2001

Yellow.jpg (42599 bytes)Due to finance problems and the pending arrival of a second new baby, the racing has been short coming with only a few meeting at the MRO event. The Aprila RS250 challenge was downgraded to the MRO but this was my final intended year of competing on a 2 stroke.

My achievements were met by taking part at an affordable national event within the BSB arena and it's now time to go back home to 4 stroke racing. The Aprilia has since been sold and a used racing R1 has now replaced it.

2000

Hq1.jpg (51460 bytes)Brought an Aprilia RS250 from Aprilia racing for the challenge series. The expense of the purchase put me back in terms of being able to practice/test. The bike turned up in a crate at my door and I only managed one practice in before I entered into full national racing within the BSB arena.

It was my first time on a two stroke in several years and going straight into national racing was a big shock, experience and probably not the ideal. I struggled all year but managed to qualify for about half of the meetings. My injury was still affecting me at times and it was a dismal year

1999

This was the best year in my racing career to date. I started off with a 4th place at Brands Hatch during the opening pound day event followed by another 2 top 6 finishes out of 30+ starters. The year continued in the same vane and I consistently scored top tem positions between 3 & 10 all year with a position of 4th overall in the Bemsee 400 championship during the year.

Due to financial problems I missed a few rounds which pushed my position in the championship to 8th before a big accident ended racing for the year and made up my mind to move to another class for a new challenge.

1998

This year was much similar to 1997 and the progress was much the same and nothing dramatic to write home about, apart from the usual racing near miss incidents and crashes.

1997

This year I continued to race the ZXR400L2, which has undergone engine and suspension work. I raced on several circuits all over the country which includes Brands Hatch, Snetterton, Cadwell Park, Mallory Park, Pembrey to name a few. Improvement has been the name of the my game and during the year I have scored many top ten placing. The year has ended with a best result of 5th.

1996

Zxrpink1.jpg (30170 bytes)For this season I decided to take a loan to buy a decent bike which would not let me down. For my sins I was committed to 3 years repayment. A van was bought to carry the gear. A Kawasaki ZXR400 race bike was purchased. This proved totally reliable and the only thing that was changed all year was the oil and tyres. That years racing was with Bemsee in the Formulae 400 class. The first race of the season was at Brands Hatch in which I scored an opening result finish of 16th. The next meeting was at Lydden and I finished a best of 10th.  My times and consistency improved throughout the year and I ended the year with a best result of 8th.

1995

Started this season in April on a Kawasaki KR1 250 in the novice class with Bemsee. This was my first season of racing and I progressed steadily on a noncompetitive bike. I ended the season with a best finish of 14th after working my way up from the lower ends of the field. Actually I was lapped on several occasions. If only I had done a few track days before I started this game. This have ago attitude was not thought out very well but I was determined. At this time the body was willing but the bike was weak.

1994

Cbr601.jpg (21443 bytes)Started racing at the end of 1994 on my standard 1987 CBR600. I rode the bike to a few meetings and hired a van on other occasions to get the bike to the track. This is a practice, which is not widely used due to its inherent shortcomings.

It was an interim solution until I could afford a race bike. This practice was prematurely put to an end when I rode the bike to a Snetterton meeting with KRC in the wet. I crashed heavily in wet practice and bent the bike in the process. Racing was then halted until the start of the 1995 season. During the period leading up to the crash I secured valuable experience and a signature on my license.
