Go Star Racing Club is embarking on a year long program to
boost club members.
Go Star Racing was formed in 1999 primarily as a motorcycle
racing club but not all members of the club consider racing as their favourite
biking activity. We have members that prefer touring, ride outs, track days,
travelling etc. and these pastimes were not met by the club. Nor were there other
members in the club with similar interests.
At the end of last year, 2001, it was decided by the "D"s
(new buzzword) and contacted members, that the club membership
be significantly increased big time in 2002. The reasons being:
- the more the merrier
- greater diversity in the club
- greater pool of resources, knowledge, skills
- more clout when dealing with sponsors
- more clout in getting deals for members
- future club continuity
- blah blah blah
you get the point
Also we believe we have a good thing going here. We are one of
the few motorcycle clubs that has a racing team. We are not restricted to bike
type or manufacturers. We can do what ever we want!!
Managing a large club has been the only problem we can
foresee. Therefore it was decided that the club will be managed via the
internet. All information would be disseminated (large
word!!) via emails and the website. All members details (except
private info), club accounts, newsletter etc would would all be published
online.
All new members must register online. We know that some
potential members would not be eligible but until we have someone volunteering
to lick stamps and envelops (yuk) we would
suggest that they use internet cafe's or similar. There will no longer be
printed newsletters nor the "D"s rallying the troops via the phone. Also ensure that you are signed on to the Clubs email group.
I think 2002 will be a good year. We ask everyone to help with
the PR exercise. Hopefully we would have to hire Wembley Arena to hold future
club meetings. I will not be buying a round of drinks then.
