Recent Activities and News
Well the big news
has to be the new Go Star Forum. I am sure you have seen the various e-mails
flying around about it, well I can now confirm that it has been launched and is
now live. The Forum can be found here:-
http://www.gostar-racing.com/forums/frames/members_only_forum.htm
and currently can only be accessed by people who have a username and password.
If you do not have one, then please contact
webmaster@gostar-racing.com .
We are hoping to use this Forum as
a replacement to the Yahoo mail accounts as it is much easier for people to use
the Forum than try and keep up to date with the ever growing number of e-mails
that are flying about ! It is proving very user friendly and has already proved
something of a hit amongst the testers. Let us know what you think – the club
would appreciate the feedback.
We are still looking for
volunteers to help out in the club. If you want to lead a ride out, help out on
a race day or even want to get involved in the new training initiative – we
would love to hear from you. Contact
club@gostar-racing.com . We are currently looking for one of our ‘Northern’
members to volunteer to organise a few pub meets and ride outs etc…. are there
any ‘Northern’ members who fancy taking this on ???
The idea of the
Club Calendar looks like it will soon become a reality. Various club members and
racers have agreed to pose with their bikes at locations yet to be agreed with
only bike parts covering their embarrassment ! John S. has done a great job in
organising this and we’re all looking forward to the finished article ! Once
prices etc. have been formalised we will be selling the calendars to help boost
the clubs funds – make sure you buy one !
On a more useful note – the calendars should list all the
relevant dates for WSB, BSB, MotoGP etc. and any other bike related dates you
should know about and naturally the race meetings where the Go Star racers will
be competing.
Want to take this
opportunity to send out best wishes to Kane Denyer and Junior McCootie who are
both on the mend after recent offs. I’m sure you will join me in wishing them a
speedy recovery.
Celeste is
organising a Christmas meal and drinks for the club – she will be sending out
details and information soon - so keep an eye on your e-mail and the new Forum.
The club is
organising a Karting event – see Events
Come on folks –
this is the newsletter for YOUR club so take an active role and send us in some
articles. They don’t have to be a masterpiece, I am more than happy to ‘tidy’
them a bit. So lets hear about your ride outs, trips, rallies, parties etc. just
a few lines and maybe even a piccy would be great – don’t be shy now ! Send them
to club@gostar-racing.com.
Race Team Update
Well the race season
is now over but the race team is still busy getting organised for next year,
with a number of racers like Tony N., John H., myself and others on new
bikes that we can't wait to ride. Some of the racers are also organising and
will be attending track days in France and Spain.
See
the forums on the website for details.
We have a racers
meeting set for next Wednesday 6th November and all members are welcomed to come
along and have a drink with us and see the aargee bargee that we will have
trying to decide on new team colours et al. The meeting will take place at JD
Wetherspoon pub in Leytonstone High Road,
street map.
Finally but not
least we have a couple of new racers joining or midst and racing with us next
year. We have Andy W. a young gun who is
a promising young star for the future and recently
Chris Martin who is returning
to racing after several years out raising a young family like some of us. He has
a number of years experience back in the early 90's and should be a good asset
to the club & team.
Ian Porter
