| Pembrey 24-26 June 05 Racers: - Barry Lukehurst - Minitwins
Friday 24th June. This was my first visit to Pembrey. So practice day on Friday was all about learning the race track. I found the Pembrey race circuit to be very fast and bumpy. Very tricky but also very enjoyable. I found i needed to play around with my set up and gearing to suit the circuit. I had no info to go by. So it was a case of try it and see. Made a few mistakes along the way. But thats apart of the fun on the practice day. Get it right and you are rewarded with improved lap times and better results.
Saturday 25th June. Race 1. Finished 15th. Rewarded with one championship point.
Pleased but felt there was a lot of room for improvement. So made a few adjustments to the bike. Race 2. Finished 27th. No points. Poor result, made the wrong adjustments. Bike handled poorly compared to my first race. Decided to return the settings i had on my first race. You live and learn. Sunday 26th June.
Finished 14th. Rewarded with two championship points. Pleased, with better result. Decided to ask if there was a space on the clubman 400-650 shootout. As i felt i needed extra practice to improve for my last race. A slot was confirmed, starting last on the grid. So decided to treat it as just extra track time. Decided to fiddle with my rear shock in an effort to iron out some of the bumps to improve handling. Race 2 (Clubman 400-650 shootout) Finished 12th. Rewarded with 4 championship points. Very please with my race result. lossed out on 11th by 00.58 So good headway being made. Feeling very up beat for my final race i decided to play safe and leave my set up as is. However, Sadly due to a very bad crash in the rookie 600`s. The race meeting was stopped. So it was a case of packing up and going home. Bemsee have decided to run this outstanding race at Snetterton. Which is a shame as Snetterton is one of my weakish circuits for results. Overall i did enjoy Pembrey, its one of those tracks where you need to really learn the track to get a good set up. Very fast and tricky. A circuit i would recommended to do. Next meeting is Brands Hatch GP circuit 15th, 16th, & 17th July. Barry #96 |
