David Daws
I am
David Daws and I am based in Hackney, East London. I am competing in
the new Mini Twins series (which was the brain child of Tim Jones and
Mike Edwards) run by the BMCRC (Bemsee) along side the Super Twins
series.
The Mini Twins series is a new series for
four stroke twin cylinder machines up to 650 cc. It is dominated by
Suzuki SV 650 machines, which have been raced for some time in the USA
(so that racing parts are readily available), although at the first
round there was a CB500 and of course it is possible to race either a
Ducati Monster 600 or the Laverda RS 650 (for those with a taste for the
exotic).
The amount of modification allowed is
small, so that it is relatively inexpensive to run a bike, but still
fast and competitive. The fastest of the Mini Twins at the first
meeting of the series finished in the top six of the Super Twins class
(full of RSVRs and 998s) and the slowest Mini Twin was lapping at only 6
mph per lap slower, on average, than the fastest! Being a new series
the paddock is extremely friendly and helpful which is a great credit to
Tim and Mike.
This is my rookie year and my targets
are/were (1) to finish at least one round I enter in one piece
(achieved), and (2) to steadily improve my grid position . So far
so good.
